Shaun MacGillivray, President and Producer/Director of MacGillivray Freeman Films (MFF)

Shaun MacGillivray is President and Producer/Director of MacGillivray Freeman Films (MFF), the world’s foremost independent producer and distributor of giant-screen films for IMAX and giant screen theaters. Its films have won numerous international awards including two Academy Award nominations and three films inducted into the IMAX Hall of Fame. Shaun has produced many of the company’s award-winning films including Journey to The South Pacific, To The Arctic, Grand Canyon Adventure, Humpback Whales, National Parks Adventure, Into America’s Wild and Ireland, and he most recently produced and co-directed Cities of the Future and Superhuman Body. Shaun received an MFA degree in Film Production from the University of Southern California and has worked in remote locations all over the world. He leads the company’s Business Development and Partnership team and has successfully raised more than $50 million in funding for educational IMAX films and outreach. MFF films are known for their artistry and celebration of science and the natural world, and it is the first documentary film company to reach the one-billion-dollar benchmark for worldwide ticket sales. MFF collaborates with corporations, organizations, DMOs, and associations to create impactful films, immersive experiences, VR, rides, and large-scale initiatives that educate, entertain, and inspire audiences worldwide.
